Nambordeh

About This Project

“Nambordeh” is an innovative and experimental theater production that won the Best Theater award at the 37th Fadjr International Theater Festival. It tells the deeply emotional story of a director who, while trying to stage a play in St. Petersburg, faces rejection from society and becomes unable to complete his project. The narrative masterfully weaves in elements of Iranian modern society, Taziye storytelling, and the visual atmosphere of the Qajar era to express his journey.

Creative Approach

The core of my artistic approach was to pioneer a dynamic interplay between the performers and the visuals, blurring the lines between what was live and what was pre-recorded. A live camera on stage captured the action, serving as a third-person eye for the audience. My creative focus was on leveraging video to deepen the emotional journey of the protagonist, creating a powerful, unsettling visual environment that mirrored his unraveling state.

Technical Challenges

The primary technical challenge was to execute a flawless transition from the live camera feed to pre-recorded video projections. These pre-recorded videos were meticulously designed to be indistinguishable from the live footage, with subtle, surprising changes in detail. This demanded exact timing and coordination to achieve the desired effect, ensuring the audience was fully immersed in the narrative without any disruption.
