Witness the groundbreaking visual design of the Mary Poppins production, where we have redefined stage visuals with the innovative use of integrated 3D projection mapping, promising a unique and exciting visual experience.
The video, serving as the intense opening sequence of the play, vividly illustrates the children’s nightmare about their controlling father and the oppressive house that dominates their lives. We brought this psychological drama to life by ingeniously transforming the physical 6-meter-tall house set into a dynamic visual character.
Technical and Creative Process
3D Mapping and Modeling: I created a detailed 1:5 scale model of the main set, which measures 6 meters by 8 meters. Using photogrammetry, I generated an accurate 3D model, which was then utilized in Cinema 4D and After Effects to produce the animation.
Immersive Projection: By employing dual synchronized projections, we transformed the physical set with a blend of 2D and 3D animation, seamlessly integrating the visuals into the architecture.
Experience the Immersive and multisensory nature of the performance as the final video is meticulously synced to the live orchestra, creating a seamless, multisensory opening that establishes the thematic tension of the play.
This project represents a significant technical and artistic achievement, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in live performance.
